No. It is an endurance challenge that provides a catalyst for men to enter into a new kind of conversation with themselves and others about what it means to be fully alive.

Do I need to be an experienced runner?

No. Participants may run, walk, or combine both. However, forty miles is a serious physical undertaking and participants should prepare appropriately.

Do I have to complete all forty miles?

Participants are striving to go the full distance, but not every man will finish. Everyone will leave having gone further than ever before. Official forty-mile recognition is reserved for those who complete the full distance.

What happens if I cannot continue?

Participants who are unable to continue are encouraged to remain, support the other men, and participate in the evening camaraderie and commemoration.

Can I participate with a team?

Yes. Teams may include up to four men. Teams provide companionship, accountability, pacing, and support.

Does the team divide the forty miles?

No. Forty-mile recognition is awarded individually to each person who completes the full distance. Your team is there to support and encourage you to go further than you thought possible.

The running portion of the event is 10 hours. All participants will cover 4 miles every hour for 10 hours
